Caring for your Teak Shower Seat

Posted by Brandon on 19th Nov 2014

Teak is a naturally water-resistant wood and withstands weathering better than most other woods. Over time, your teak shower seat may return to its natural patina grey color. Don't be alarmed, though! This is a common occurrence and AquaTeak has plenty of advice on how to maintain and care for your teak stool

If you notice your shower stool has started to lose it's beautiful finish, don't worry. Your local hardware store should carry teak oil. A quart, by company Watco, costs around $10 and will last you a lifetime. All you need to do is apply the finish onto the stool and watch the grey give way to the beautiful finish your stool arrived with. Depending on your usage, you should only have to stain your stool a handful of times every year or so, if that.

Have you noticed any other strange discoloring? Perhaps there is some shower soap built up along the legs? Believe it or not, some simple dish soap will eat that soap grime right off the teak shower stool. We recommend Dawn (we use it here all the time on returned products).

Is there a problem or concern you may have with your teak shower stool that I might have missed? Feel free to contact us at info@aquateak.com with any other questions you may have regarding proper care of your stool.
