5 Home Steam Shower Tips
2nd Oct 2016
Just imagine a private spa experience in the comfort of your own home. As steam fills the area, you simply relax for 15-20 minutes of pure comfort. Next, you take a shower which cools you off and energizes your body. Finally, you step out and envelop yourself in a soft and fluffy towel. That’s the steam shower experience, and it’s one that is more affordable and practical than you might think.
If you’re considering installing a steam shower, take time to consider these 5 helpful tips.
- It’s important for your steam shower to be well-insulated and enclosed, in order to prevent leaks. It should be built from non-porous materials such as stone, marble, or tile, and the door needs to be watertight.
- Ideally, the height of your steam shower should be approximately 8 feet. If you’re going higher, no problem, just consider a higher rated steam generator to handle the additional space.
- With a steam shower, comfortable seating is key. However, whether you opt for a floating teak shower bench, a stool, or something else, be sure that the seat has a small slope to keep water from pooling.
- Speaking of seating, if you have a shower area that’s on the small side, consider a fold-up bench to make use of small spaces. If the area is larger, a shower bench can be very comfortable.
- To make sure you don’t accidentally slip and fall, consider adding anti-skid strips on the floor of the shower.
