3 Ways To Rejuvenate Wood Furniture
20th Oct 2016
At Aqua Teak, it’s no surprise that we love wood furniture. Some of our favorite moments are when clients see our teak shower benches, and they just fall in love. But like everything else, time will take a toll. After a while, your furniture might look dull, and they lost that pop that you fell in love with.
But you don’t have to just toss those pieces! Keep reading for 3 ways to make those old wood pieces shine again!
- Think those stains on your furniture are there for good? Think again. If you have a dining room with a ton of white rings caused by water glasses, just rub in a little mayonnaise. Mayo is also a great weapon against crayon markings. For dark stains like ink, simply make a paste from baking soda and water. However, baking soda can be abrasive, so if your piece is untreated wood, just rub until the stain is gone. For treated wood, you may need to re-finish afterwards.
- If the piece is looking aged, try washing it lightly with some wood soap. A light wipe down with mineral oil will also do the trick. The end result will be a cleaner piece with refreshed color. To deal with minor scratches, touch up paint or a touch up pen will hide them. An even easier method is to shell a walnut, then rub the meat of the nut on the scratch. The nut will cause the scratch to blend into the color of the wood.
- What if the piece you have is simply out of style? You can pay a furniture professional to completely redesign it. It can be reupholstered, arms and legs can be added or removed, or the entire shape of the chair can be changed.
